With the holidays in full swing, you might have already watched the Grinch movie or cartoon. With these instructions you can bring the Grinch into your very own kitchen! Kids will love decorating these Grinch cupcakes and will have a blast recreating his crazy hair. These cupcakes are easy to make once you get the hang of it. Have fun and Happy Holidays!

Ingredients:
- 1 box of cake mix of your choice
- 2 tubs of 12 oz. whipped white frosting
- Green, yellow, & black food coloring
- *Note from Molly: you may also want to have some Corn starch to make the frosting more stiff, I’ll explain further down
- Frosting tips, we used a standard tip and a Wilton tip #233 which can be found in stores or here
- Toothpicks
- Cupcake holders
1. After baking the cupcakes, we dyed 1 tub of 12 oz. frosting green and began frosting the cupcakes to create a base layer. *In order to make the frosting more stiff, Molly recommends adding corn starch, bit by bit, into the mix. Corn starch does not change the flavor qualities, only the viscosity of the frosting. The stiffer the frosting, the more awesome your Grinch’s hair will look!
2. Take the Wilton #233 tip and green frosting to create a hair-like texture for his face. It’s best to work fast. After a while, the frosting will become soft and come out clumpy. You can put your frosting in the freezer for a short amount of time to prevent this if you do work at a slower pace. *Molly said that you can create the fur look by putting the tip close to the surface of the cupcake, squeezing out some frosting while you pull the frosting tube directly up. When you let go, you’ll have stiff green spikey-looking hair! (This technique is great for creating all kinds of furry friend cupcakes!)

3. Taking the rest of your white frosting, use yellow and black food coloring to dye it for the eyes and pupils.
4. Let’s create his face! Start by drawing the yellow eyes first. Try to make them somewhat slanted. We initially made the eyes round and he looked a little too nice.
5. Take the black icing and use a small tip to draw the rest of the face. For some of the cupcakes we used a toothpick and drew a light outline of where his features should be. This definitely helps!
6. The mouth, for us, was the trickiest part. Make sure it is a long horseshoe shape.
7. Put the pupils in the very corner of the yellow eyes. This makes him look slightly more intimidating.
8. We took a toothpick and flattened down the eyes. We found that a lot of the frosting was sticking up from pulling upwards when drawing the icing on the face. This step is optional.
In the end, this is what your cupcakes should look like. Let us know if you are going to try this!
